Let's Go to Welwyn Garden City: The Dream That Came True. This is the original artwork from Look and Learn no. 1042 (27 February 1982). The city was the result of Ebeneezer Howard's dream to show a brighter future to the slum dwellers of London. He developed the notion of a self contained community with homes and workplaces surrounded by trees and lawns set in the countryside surrounded by farms.
Hatfield House, home of the Cecil family is nearby and the coat of arms has many symbols showing the historical associations of the area. This is a particularly fine example of Dan Escott's detailed artwork.
