The Guilds of London: The Worshipful Company of Vinters. This is the original artwork from Look and Learn no. 311 (30 December 1967). Meticulous detail from Dan Escott depicting the coats of arms for the London Guilds of Vintners, Spectacle makers and Tallow chandlers. The scene top left depicts "Swan-Upping" where once a year members of the guild together with the Monarch and the Dyers Company are responsible for catching and tagging swans.
Those belonging to the Crown are left alone, those belonging to the Vintners marked on the left side of their beak, those belonging to the Dyers on the right.
