This is the Signed unique original Gouache painting by Gerry Embleton.

Aspects of life on the remote island of St Helena. In the main picture the former Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte remembers his past. The holes in the blind were made so he could observe British troops being drilled.

There were three giant tortoises imported during the 18th Century. One, which reputedly gazed on Napoleon during his exile (1815-1821) was still alive in the 1960s.

Originally published as the back cover to Look and Learn issue 382, 10th May 1969.
