This is the original Gouache painting by Graham Coton.

He opened the door and looked cautiously out. To his dismay, the German was still there. He was asleep, but no more than six feet away. And he was armed.

Illustration used for an extract of his account of his escape by Lieutenant Deane-Drummond from a World War II German prison house in the Netherlands.
