The Magic Doll was a story illustrated by John Burns for the British comic Robin in 1965. this particular board was published in Vol 13 Issue No 36 (4th Sept 1965).

In the story, Maria is given a doll called Gino by a woodsman, as she is on a quest to find a magic herb which will break a spell a witch has put on her Mother's cakes.

Gino turns out to be magic, and as Maria makes wishes throughout her hardships and travels, Gino comes to life and miraculously fulfils the wishes. After every wish, Gino loses a button from his outfit - what could possibly happen next?

This is exactly the type of story to keep readers captivated over the weeks. Wonderfully illustrated by Burns, the ink work has a whimsical yet defined finesse.
