Growing up in a creative family was definitely influential. My family went to the library regularly where I would sit on the floor and pour over the picture books. Some of my favourites were The Little Moon Theatre by Irene Haas, Come Follow Me by Gyo Fujikawa, Where’s Wallace by Hilary Knight, The Grey Lady and the Strawberry Snatcher by Molly Bang, and The Clown of God by Tomie DePaola. I also loved the Muppets and anything by Jim Henson, especially the movies Labyrinth and Dark Crystal . Richard Scarry’s books were very influential as well. PR: Did drawing come easily to you? BBH: I don’t know if I can say that it came easily to me exactly. It was just something that I always loved to do.
