This is the unique original Gouache painting by Patrick Nicolle.

The Peasants' Revolt. Unrest among the working population led to the Peasants' Revolt in 1381. Led by Wat Tyler, the peasants marched on London, burning buildings and killing people. Richard II (see in a contemporary portrait on the left) met them, and Wat Tyler was stabbed by the Lord Mayor or in the dispute that followed.

After Tyler's death (below), Richard quieted Tyler's followers with the promise which he did not keep, that their grievances would be removed.
