This is the original Gouache painting by Ron Embleton.

The Magic of the Olympics: The War of the Gods. (Top) In the early days of the Olympics, statues were erected of the winners. An unfortunate boxer was killed when he pounded the statue of a rival and it fell on him; (Bottom) Coroebus was the first recorded winner at the Olympics, his reward a crown of olive branches.

Originally published in look and Learn issue 544, 17th June 1972 as part of the first episode of a history of the Olympic Games illustrated by Ron Embleton just in time for the Munich games that summer.
