This is the unique original Watercolour painting by Cecil Doughty.

Bonnie Prince Charlie, disguised as Flora MacDonald's Irish spinning maid Betty Burke, escapes the Hanoverian troops on the Isle of Benbecula in the Outer Hebrides, June 1746.

Flora was later arrested and held for a while in the Tower of London. After her release she married army Captain Allan MacDonald and was subsequently involved in the American War of Independence.
